Falconers LLP represents the mother of Sammy Yatim, an 18 year-old man who was shot to death on a TTC streetcar on July 27, 2013. The shooting was investigated by the Special Investigations Unit, and following their investigation, Constable James Forcillo was charged with second degree murder.
On January 25, 2016, Constable Forcillo was found guilty of attempted murder and not guilty of second degree murder or manslaughter.
On August 30, 2013, Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair appointed Frank Iacobucci to lead the review of the Toronto Police Services’ use of force policies.
On October 11, 2013, the mother and sister of Sammy Yatim, Sahar Bahadi and Sarah Yatim, filed a lawsuit against Cst. Forcillo and the Toronto Police Service.
