This week, Indigenous Police Chiefs of Ontario (IPCO) is appearing as an intervenor in a landmark case alleging systemic discrimination in funding for Indigenous community safety.
The case, brought by the Pekuakamiulnuatsh Takuhikan community in Quebec, accuses Canada and Quebec of chronic underfunding under the First Nations and Inuit Policing Program. IPCO, representing the nine self-administered Indigenous police services in Ontario, will be speaking of the long-standing pattern of underfunding and the refusal by Canada to negotiate with First Nations.
Falconers LLP is honoured to represent IPCO, which will be appearing virtually on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.
