Julian Falconer and Associates welcome new Partner, Asha James

Julian Falconer and Associates are thrilled to announce that Falconers LLP lawyer, Asha James, has become a Partner, as of January 2018.

Asha is a graduate of the University of Windsor Law School where she earned American (JD) and Canadian (LLB) law degrees. She completed her articles with Falconers LLP, was called to the bar of Ontario in June of 2009, and acted as the Managing Associate of Falconers LLP since 2013.

Asha’s practice has centered around public interest litigation, with a strong focus on human rights, constitutional law, and access to justice. Asha has acted on a number of high profile hearings, including Smith v. The Attorney General of Canada et al, and Manon v. The Toronto Police Services Board et al.  Yatim v. The Toronto Police Services Board et al.

Asha has appeared before the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Federal Court of Appeal, the Superior Court of Justice as well as at various administrative tribunals including the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal and the Ontario Environmental Review Tribunal. Most recently, Asha has acted as counsel for Dafonte Miller and has provided comment to the media on this high-profile case.

Asha is also a sessional instructor at the University of Windsor Law School and Lakehead University Law School, where she teaches Torts and Advanced Torts courses.
