Toronto Police Officer Charged in Death of 19-Year-Old Brampton Teen

On Friday February 10, 2023, the Special Investigations Unit (“SIU”) laid charges against Constable Calvin Au, a member of the Toronto Police Service (“TPS”). The SIU charged Constable Au with aggravated assault and manslaughter in the death of 19-year-old Chadd Max Facey of Brampton.

Chadd Facey died on April 26, 2021, following an assault against him by Constable Au in Brampton in the area of Highway 50 and Bellchase Trail. As a result of the assault, Chadd suffered head trauma. He was transported to Brampton Civic Hospital that evening, where he died shortly after.

A sudden death investigation started by Peel Police Service revealed that Chadd’s attacker was off-duty Toronto Police Constable Calvin Au. The SIU was notified and took over the investigation.

Chadd’s family has been anxiously waiting to find out what happened to Chadd and are happy to see that the officer is being held accountable for his actions.
