On Wednesday March 29, 2023, the Indigenous Police Chiefs of Ontario (“IPCO”) launched a human rights complaint against Canada, specifically Public Safety Canada, alleging ongoing systemic discrimination through Canada’s deliberate and willful under-funding and under-resourcing of the safety of Indigenous communities by means of the First Nations and Inuit Policing Program (“FNIPP”).
IPCO represents the nine stand-alone Indigenous police services that operate in Ontario.
The policing team at Falconers LLP, Julian Falconer, Asha James, Jeremy Greenberg, and Shelby Percival, are all honoured to provide the legal support for IPCO.
