Inquest Concludes, Closing Submissions May 24
The Inquest into the Deaths of Seven First Nations Youth is adjourned until May 24, 2016, at which time closing submissions will be made and instructions given to the jury. The evidence portion of the Inquest is now complete. Lawyers Julian Falconer and Meaghan Daniel, of Falconers LLP, have been at attendance at the Inquest on behalf of Nishnawbe Aski Nation.
The Inquest has heard evidence of botched investigations, racism, and systemic failures.
Recommendations are expected in June.
