On December 14, 2024, the family and friends of Erixon Kabera held a rally on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario to raise awareness of the Hamilton man’s death at the hands of the Hamilton Police Service, and to seek answers and transparency.
On November 9, 2024, Erixon was shot while at his apartment building at 1964 Main Street West, Hamilton by the Hamilton Police Service as they were responding to an apparent 9-1-1 call. On November 10, 2024, Erixon succumbed to his injuries and passed away. The Special Investigations Unit (“SIU”) has invoked their mandate and is currently completing an investigation into the shooting.
Since his passing, Erixon’s family, friends, and community have taken time to educate the public on who Erixon was, how important he was to his family and his community, and to raise awareness about the circumstances of his death, while continuing to press for answers related to how Erixon was shot in early November.
Falconers LLP is honoured to represent members of Erixon’s family – brother Yves Ikobe as well as the mother of Erixon’s children, Appoline (Lydia) Nimbeshaho.
